PC hasnt got an operating system, as we just built it. try to boot XP from CD and we get a blue screen saying its loading files. It crashes here and won't do anything more. Any ideas?

slick the hard drive try again. Check the CD for defects.

have u got your hard disc on a raid controller? If so you need the controller driver from the supplied floppy. If it isn't even getting to this part have u (if raid present) set up the array? or autodetected the hard disc in the bios?

You could also try disabling power management.

If the cd is scratched, but it only has a few scratches running round (instead of around the surface), only the boot systems files may have been corrupted. If so, you can try to make Win XP boot disks to be able to start the setup program. To do so, follow this link for home: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=33290 , and this one for professional: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/release.asp?releaseid=33291 .

Thx for the suggestions guys, I'll try them ASAP and post back the results. RobUK the specs are:

40Gig HDD

512DDR RAM
