June 17, 2002: Speedy Gonzales: Returns!!?

It looks like Cartoon Network has listened to the fans, and Speedy will once again be featured alongside the rest of the Looney Tunes stars on upcoming showings of The Bugs and Daffy Show and The Looney Tunes Show. Cartoon Network's recently redesigned website now reveals the contents of future B&D and LT shows, and there are many surprises in store. Including many Speedy cartoons which have never aired on CN before. Check out http://www.cartoonnetwork.com/ or the Termite Terrace Trading Post (http://forums.toonzone.net/showthread.php?s=&threadid=37740) for more information.

as I remember Hispanic groups griped that they were "offended" by it, same thing with the little Chi(no I cant spell it) dog in the commercials, seems now a days, every one is "offended" by something. .I am "offended" by these people that are so easily "offended"

“The problem with [Speedy cartoons] is the references to drinking, laziness, drug use, and womanizing (‘Speedy knows my sister, Speedy knows EVERYBODY’s sister…’),” according to Daniel Wineman, of the Cartoon Network Programming department.

BTW, it's worth mentioning that NO ONE ever complained that Speedy Gonzales was offensive. It was a decision by the network to rule out the POSSIBILITY!

Yup, it was actually Hispanic groups who griped the most that he was taken off of CN. Apparently SG is enormously popular in Mexico. Go figure. :D

For years ive seen them concealed behind that long extict television distrabution of A.A.P. 'Associated Artits Productions'. I have no prob.s with plaster I believe he knows that. What was, was- what is, is. I live in the now and hold no grudges. I stepped out of line in the past and so did he, it happens. I really have notheing against anyone on this forum or any other for that matter. People have different opinions, thats what makes us unique and forums like this good. If one opinion was the almighty it would be quite boreing reading this stuff.;)
