What is this?
I heard it was a "flavor" of ADSL. What does that mean? Is it DSL or is it not?

Warthog Mungla 01-25-2001, 02:52 PM For information about the G.Lite, check out: http://www.isp-planet.com/technology/g-lite.html G.Lite is a simplier DSL alternative. I believe G.Lite is quite a bit slower than its full DSL cousins, but it is a lot simplier to install and can be used at greater distances. I believe G.Lite was engineered by the folks at Elastic Networks, the same people who engineered the marvel "Etherloop". For more information about Elastic Networks or Etherloop, check out http://www.elastic.com .. I have Etherloop, and for the lucky few who have this option available, it is extremely recommendable over ADSL, HDSL, or Cable. FrozenLiquidity 01-25-2001, 04:45 PM Yeah, G. Lite has been around for a while and I have heard good things about it, but I have never seen or heard of someone who actually has it. I wonder why that is? FrozenLiquidity Mungla 01-25-2001, 04:51 PM I suspect the lower-rate speeds turn down quite a few people. But, a good portion of DSL-wanting citizens live outside of the ADSL range, but inside of the G.Lite range. I would also suspect that telecoms are after the fastest and cheapest means of DSL that they can find. The installation of normal 1.5Mb/640Kb ADSL is very minimum on both physical terms as well as on the wallet. Warthog 01-26-2001, 05:42 AM ok, thanks guys Warthog SysOpt.com
