Networking desktop with laptop

Hi just someone from downunder

Can someone suggest a site that provides in depth knowledge of laptop functional systems for small home networks.
I want to arrange a simple side by side setup with a desktop to a gateway laptop and I'm not quite sure if the same applies as you would to connect two desktops.



I know the desktop runs Win ME and the Laptop Win 98 does this affect the final procedure.

Any help and advice would be most appreciated

The setup is pretty much identical. :D

yep. as long as you have network adapters in both machines you can either connect the two directly using a crossover cable or with two patch cables and a hub or switch. just make sure your IP addresses are on the same subnet, and that your computers are both on the same workgroup, and you should be all set.
