Just wondering if anyone here used to use the older style chat rooms. I am not talking IRC or www chats. I mean telnet.
That was before there was a Netscape or Internet Explorer. I have been on one for about 6 years now...still go there for decent conversation http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif These are similar to the MUDS that people went to, but this is just a chatter. Just wondering if anyone did these besides me http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

PS: I telnet to village.pb.net port 5000

I didn't know any actually still existed. Telnet is a dying standard for most Internet users, but it does work quite well for these type of text activities, especially for remote administration.

For some reason, I always get weird questions from people when I'm the only person setting at telnet terminal at a college lab when several PC's are open for use. They always ask, "What could you possibly be using one of those old systems for?" I reply, "Surfing the net", which usually means I get to start into an indepth explanation of Lynx. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

On a similar note, does anyone still know of any gopher sites that actually work? Just curious.

Catch ya' later,
Robert Richmond
