Virus definitions dated prior to January 18, 2001, detect this worm as W97M.Melissa.Variant. Definitions dated January 18, 2001, or later detect this worm as W97M.Melissa.W, and will fully repair it.
W97M.Melissa.W is a Word 97 macro virus. It has a payload that emails itself using Microsoft Outlook. The subject of the email message is:
Important Message From <your name>
This worm is functionally identical to the original W97M.Melissa.A worm that was discovered in 1999.

Thanks Doc. I cant beleive the amount of people around me that are getting virusses. Ive been averaging 3-4 calls a week on them lately. Used to be 1 or 2 a month.

God I love my SECURE Linux box !

Up to now, Linnux wasn't worth the effort for the virus makers. But as Linnux becomes more popular, you'll join the crowd!

Maybe. I'm sure that a lot of the viruses are written by the anti-virus vendors. : http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

They'll want to maintain / increase their market, as Linux becomes more widely accepted as a mainstream O.S.
