Hey, I recently went out and bought a Celeron 600 FC-PGA to upgrade my ailing Abit BE6 system. I flashed my bios to the latest version (TH). I also went out and bought an Asus s370-slot1 adapter. Slapping those
two together I proceeded to install the new CPU. With proper jumper settings and all (on the adapter card) I turned on my computer and it made these loud stressed beeps that came and went in frequent intervals. My computer wouldn't even turn on, there was nothing on the monitor and beeps continued on forever. Thinking that my mobo might not be autodetecting the 600 I put my old Celeron 433 back in and to my dismay I heard the exact same beeps. I wanted to get into the bios and manually set the proper settings for a Celeron 600 but now I can't even get my
computer to turn on. I've tried everything from a Pentium II 233 Slot 1 CPU to the Celeron 600 over and over again. No luck. I've checked over and tried everything (removing hds, ram, video cards.. etc). Same old one tone stressed beeps. The weird thing is when I don't have a CPU in the motherboard it boots up without any beeps, but there is nothing on the monitor still. Could it be that my motherboard has shorted out? Or is it something to do with my SLOT 1 socket being damaged? Any thoughts or solutions would be much appreciated.
Thanks
