They need to get there **** together when they put this one out. I can run RTCW and MOHAA great on my OS. What the hell is wrong when I can't run GTA 3, which is nowhere close to those games (Spec. wise), but not have a problem with those two? I would love to play it, looks great, but till I get a better card.......Geforce4 Ti 4600 :-) i can't think of a better reason to get that card. Also just got Morrowind. It runs fine too. go figure. Rockstar needs to fix this problem fast. If I could only get my money back for false advertising on their Min. & Rec. requirements. If there's any patches out there let me know.

Thanks, Tweekie

your the first person ive heard say that ever. if your comp. cant run it, dont take it out on Rockstar. its not their prob. do u have all of the latest drivers??

to be honest, it is their fault.
My machine was in a similar situation, where in I could play any other game and high res, all the candy turned right up, but GTA3 - nope.
It isn't a driver problem as such (although updating always helps) it is more the way the game is coded in the first place. Apparently is full of holes/gaps giving rise to the masive requirements and latest hardware, old computers can't cope with the errors.

It's buggy as hell, I think they got some work experience students in to code it ;)
http://www.magenheimer.com/gta3help/ has some tips and optimisations.

Runs like a donkey on my computer also - and im well within spec.

Interestingly it runs smoothly on a friends crappy P3 500Mhz w Gf2 MX

...i think this is probably down to crappy coding / driver support or sumink like that

...what a surprise:rolleyes:

Other Games Show their minimum requirements way lower than they should be.... My biggest example is Dungeon Seige, the requiremnts are:
Windows XP, 2000, Me, 98
PC with 333 MHz equivalent or higher processor
128 MB of system RAM
1 GB available hard disk space
8 MB 3D graphics card
DirectX 8.0 compatible sound card with speakers/headphones
Multiplayer: 56 kbps for 1-4 players, broadband or LAN for 5+ players

The Game is fairly jumpy on my system, my system specs are:
Pentium 2 400Mhz
SE440BX MOBO
512MB Ram
Soundblaster Live! Value
ATI Radeon 64MB DDR VIVO
16X40X Pioneer Slot load
12X8X32 LG CDRW
20GB 7200RPM HD (Primary)
20GB 5400RPM HD (Secondary)
All Drivers Up-To-Date
Windows XP Professional

I get 9-28 fps, (I can put on any Resolution and the FPS stay the same)
mostly 9, thats almost unplayable, every other game I play, my -Minimum- fps is 28 constantly or gereater
I usually find game post their requiremnets higher than they should be, but what ever, well thats my piece of beef for ya.....

its your Processor Skitzy....I have A PII400 too and with dungeon seige I got some slowdown only thing that saved me was i have lots of ram and pretty good vid card.

Its at the poitn where PII400 is now below min specs of many games. After all it IS 4years old. I hate having to turn down some options to play a game.

GTA 3 does have high sys requiements, sometimes a no CD patch for the game will help as it isnt loading anything from the cd at all. Even when you do a full install on most games it still reads a cd checking software from the cd that slows performance. This was the case with another game as well. Its worth a looksee.

yA YUR RIGHT THE PROCESSOR IS OLD, BUT i DO HATE TURNING DETAILS DOWN..... THIS COMPUTER HAS BEEN THE MOST RELIABLE COMPUTER I HAVE, AND/OR HAD, WELL MY ONLY OPTION IS TO MAX THE RAM OUT, (768 LOL)
oops have my CAPS on..... :-\
Dungeon seige has requirents lower than my system, and i can play games that far greater than my comp. specs. But what I have heard DS isn't really that much 3D reliant....

parkercd3,

upgrading your OS and graphics card would be on the cards next if i were you, and of course the all important DVD ROM :)

That MX card parkercd3's running will perform quite well with any game on the store shelves. GPU's don't really kick in until your sys cpu starts getting taxed. Ofcourse, he won't get to enjoy pixel shading effects...but then again, how many games on the market really support that feature? Well, there's no way I'm downing nVidia's latest line of bad-boys...I went from a 420 to a ti4600.

GTA 3 haven't work fine for me either, it's playable, but lags at every corner, and i can't get a good aim when i shoot, because the fps is way too low. I'm running Windows XP Pro, and heard that there's some incapability with older XP drivers. When i download the new XP drivers it still runs laggy.

here is my gaming system:
Pentium III @ 700 mhz no o'clock
512 SDRAM
ATI Radeon 8500 LE

is it because my system is too weak or what? I'm waiting for my 1.8A, RDRAM and Leadtek GF Ti 4400 to get here and i'm gonna pop it in and see if there's any difference. There **** better be some BIG IMPROVEMENTS OR I'M SUEING Rocket, Nvidia, Rambus, and Microsoft!!!! hehe talk about making some quick money, here's the answer to that post that question about making $5000 fast or better yet $5,000,000. I'm gonna be rich, mauahhahahaha!!!

Mickey, i just think its down to plain old shabby coding, i have the problems u describe on my fairly fast rig also, whilst my pal on a P3 500 and Gf2MX 32mb has no such problems

Its a mystery
