Which is the better of the two 1997 vintage motherboards?
VIA VX pro or VIA VXtwo? I found both motherboards for $1.25 each!

Intel VX, VIA Apollo VP-1 aka "VXpro": Avoid. Useless SDRAM support. VIA VPX aka "VXtwo" or "VXpro+". Fair enough. Supports up to 128 MBytes per DIMM, up to 75 MHz CPU bus. You can build a useful surf-o-matic from these. With the "VXtwo" moniker, that's an Amptron board, this one: http://www.amptron.com/html/pm8600a.html (or its b or c revision, no important differences) Latest BIOS updates are from 1H1998, that means largeish HDDs yes, K6-2 maybe, 128-MByte DIMMs very likely. regards, Peter SysOpt.com
