Hey,

I've got a Dell Inspiron 2500 notebook, and it has an Ethernet adaptor, but the network running through out hose (sadly) is coaxial. Is there some sort of adapter I can get to connect a Coaxial cable to an ethernet phone-style plugin (It's name I have since forgotton)?

Thanks.

It might be easier/safer to just get a hub with coax and RJ45 connectors. If you just have an adapter and you disconnect it from the coax line, you might bring down the entire network. Since you have a laptop, it would be assumed that you would be disconnecting it from time to time.

Coax networks use BNC twist on connectors and are called Thin-Net networks (since it is thinner than regular TV cable dimensions).

I have never seen an adapter to go from BNC to RJ-45. Many desktop network adapters have built in BNC and RJ-45 connections, so it may be easier to rewire the home network than to mess with the laptop.
