I just bought a new ASUS P IV m/b and while it was very easy to swap it out. I don't seem to be getting the performance that I had anticipated. There were some problems with Win98 seeing the new drivers as well. Is there a good tried and true method for swapping out m/b's. I have been doing one every 3 months or so and it just doesn't get to be routine.

thanks

What are the system spec's for the new setup.
What were your old spec's?
Did you do a fresh install of windows?

The old board was an EPOX 8hka+ with an Athlon 1800+ and I replaced it with an ASUS P4S533 mb with an Intel 2.26 P4. I did not do a do a clean install, I just swapped out the mb's and let windows find the drivers. Installing new ones as needed.

Ok boot into safe mode. Go thru device manager and remove all the old or double items there. You will have a lot of double items there. With the move to another board. A fresh install of windows is recommended.
Check in add/remove programs see if there is an uninstall option for the 4 in 1 drivers there.
You might want to do a system file check also. Start>run>sfc
Replace any corrupted files it finds.
