Wierd things been happening lately. Every, say, 2 minutes, my hard drive goes full throttle for about 5-7 seconds and for those seconds my computer freezes. It has not always happened, but happens now on win98se and win2000pro (dual boot).

Is this a "smart" drive thing (BIOS) or perhaps a giga utility I installed? I do not believe I loaded the same software on both OS's at the same time, but not sure.

Something else....sometimes, coming out of sleep, my computer doesn't want to write to the hard drive and crashes. I was thinking maybe a loose cable (cheap rounded).

Anyway, lemmie know what ya think and what other info ya might need. As always..thanx a ton all.

Here are my specs:

Giga 7vrxp (raid)
2 40 MB Maxtor 7200 133

Ath 1900XP
lite-on 32*12*40
lite-on dvd
OSs: Win2000pro and win98se

Axle619, Try and see if you can uninstall whatever it were before you computer started acting strange, it sounds like a software problem. I would also recheck all of the connections in the computer. Good Luck:eek:

What is probably causing that is some application that you installed; most likely, an antivirus or so (also, checking for virus wouldn't hurt ;) ) In Windows 2000 it could be due to the Indexing Service, etc...state your installed and running software (like the one that runs on startup and/or keeps on the system tray)
