Hi,

I've been working with some pc's here, p4's on ax4t-2 mb's.

I've noticed when going to replace the stock AGP card with another AGP card, it won't fit, because the GODDAMN AGP PORT is REVERSE MOUNTED!?!?

How come? A silly bid by Aopen to buy Aopen gfx cards or what?

Anyone else notice this?

thanks,
euphoryk

What? Please don't tell me you're trying to but the card in upside down. The PCB-side goes up - fan/heatsink down.

There are different AGPports, but every AGP card I've ever had fit in them all. They didn't all work, but they did fit.

Actually, if i wanted the card to fit, I WOULD HAVE TO put it in upside down, but then it would face the front of the tower.

NO JOKE, we could'nt beleive it here at the office when we went to swap cards.

Throw it out? Bill! Are you mad? I'm sure someone could make it work!

I'm thinking an ide cable, some really fine wire stripers, the world's smallest soldering iron and some sort of apoxy....

either get (my favorite:D ) a PCI card or throw the board out. A GF4 MX 420 isn't too bad. Sorry about your luck.:(

go here, to page 12 of the specs; there are several different slot designs in there, some of which do indeed appear to be backwards of each other. however, it is because they are actualy different slot designs...

Nice find, Smily! Yup - it looks like he's trying to put an AGP 3.3V card in an older 1.5V slot. It wouldn't boot even if he could get it in there. :(

I didn't really know what to expect, knew that there were a couple of different designs because of the AGP pro spec and all that, i just kind of stumbled across that spec sheet. didn't realize that there were that many different types of AGP slots that varied so much in their design....in reality though i'm sure most of us will only see one or maybe two of those different specs in use....still, it's cool to find out stuff like that because you never know when you'll run into something like that later

Its time for a new port. Maybe a AAP(Accelerated Audio Port) I always like new ports :)

And let it be noted, (not at work so don't have actual word for word reproduction of the sentence located in the motherboard manual)

Due to changes in AGP PrO slots, it is not a supported feature.

or similar,
anyways the sh1t is reversed.
(im blunted)
