About 8 months ago, I purchased a Ditto 10Gig
tape cartridge from Value America, which later filed bankrupt. As I have a previous tape of this size, just recently decided to use it. GUESS WHAT!, the tape lets me name the tape volume or name, etc. and will not
accept anybackup. I can read the info on the new cartridge, which sys initial Format 1970
which I dont believe. They says format not
recognized. I know the format is unique to
Omega. Does anyone reformat these things or
does my 39 bucks go in the trash.. SOB STORY.

If it is a new and unused tape you might need to initialize (think of it as partitioning and formatting the tape) the tape to your backup software's format.

Thanks for the replies believe it or not I found some newer software for Ditto on the Iomega Site. Also a Tool Program so maybe I will come up with an answer. Thanks for your interest and suggestions..
