As for a lot of people I can't read some DVD with my PC, I have a CREATIVE DVDROM DVD1243 E. It might spin for a few seconds and then just stops. It works perfectly with some DVD but some new ones are totally unreadable.
Is there any reel solution for this problem?

Did you try a lens cleaner? They are pretty cheap and you can use them for your computer and home stereo cdrom/dvd drives.

Did you make sure to clean the discs? I usually use a little alcohol and an old t-shirt. wipe in a star pattern from the center out. NEVER go in a circle. :D

I did'nt try to clean the lens but it's amazing that it can work with other DVD which are olders and not perfectly clean.
the discs are clean either, I've just received them.
i thought that it was a hardware problem (or a software problem, don't really know)
I will try to clean the lens. hope il will work.

It might just be a bad drive, but I would hate for you to buy a new drive when the old one just needs a cleaning. I can't guarantee that cleaning will work, but it sure beats shelling out another $100 for a new drive. :D

What region are the DVDs? What do you have your DVD region set to?

the DVD region is set to zone2 and the DVD are zone2 either so? I don't think that the problem is there.

Can you read them at all? I mean put in the dvd and then go to >my computer and see if the files are listed under the dvd-rom.:)

the drive doesn't recognise anything. for it, the dvdrom is empty and i must put something in it but the dvd is in.????
