i heard this from somewhere.. having more than 1 burning program on your pc is not recommended because of high chance damaging aspi registry. i have nero5, cdrwin, and clonecd all latest versions.i use nero for burning files and audio, cdrwin for psx copy, and use clonecd for pcgames so its really hard for me to have just one burning program. someone tell me that what i heard is not true.

NERO and EZCD Creator do not mix. Others? I don't know. I have EZCD Creator 4.02 and Prassi CD Right! 1.5 on one computer now without problems.

My Plextor started making coasters...(coincidence?)...soon after I aborted an install of Nero..only cuz it said I had to get rid of Adaptec first...I decided not to. I have since moved the burner to another computer and all is well with Adaptec and the Plextor software.
I will stick with what works.

Well if your willing to fight with the DLL files and the aspi layer files and install Adaptec and the plextor apps a couple of times you can have several cd burning apps loaded at the same time.

I currently have on my main system
Ez Cd creator 4.03 including Take2, and Direct CD
Nero Burning rom 5.0.3.1
Plextor 2000
CloneCD 2.831
CdrWin 3.7F

All will even run at the same time if your willing to fight to get the correct order of installs. Truthfully all I can remember is having to do the adaptec software updates last after every install of the other apps.

here is even a pic of them running

Thanks for the enlightenment Mntsnow. Do you find one does a better job at some specific burn than others?

Biff, Yes. I mainly use EZCD as it is feature rich and robust. I use Nero for the ocassional cd burn that Adaptec has a hard time with. I use CloneCD to make backup copies of my kids games (playstation games are very hard to get a good copy of unless you use a app like CloneCD). I have CDRWin as I had a couple of images given to me that were in it's propriatary image format. (none standard ISO image...It uses a .bin image file format)

and when I just want a CD to CD copy of like a music cd. I just use my plextor software as it works great and very easy on system resources (must be used with a Plextor to plextor cd setup)

Thaks for giving me the info there mntsnow http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I use nero right now as ez creator gave me aspi errors. Do you think it's worth persuing a fix? nothing was found using the search function. If it's worth it I'll start a new post? I just really use the burner to save my own data.
Biff?

You could try to reinstall the Adaptec software over the top of Nero as it should replace the aspi files with it's own which Nero will usually work fine with. But truthfully as long as the cd burning software you are currently using provides all the functions that you need....then truthfully there is no need to have more than it loaded....

In personal experience, I have never dealt with these type of registry problems. I have Nero5, Clone CD, and Adaptec EXCD Creator all on one system. I have never had a problem with this setup, I currently have a Yamaha 4416 burner. This burner is very reliable, I have never had a buffer underrun, but this could be due to the system setup.
