Strange Happenings while adding Hardware

Though I'm a relative "GreenHorn" at Computin, this ain't my first Rodeo.

While setting up a modem last night, I did the usual thingy about putting the drivers in C:Windows/Temp

Right ?

Well after several repeated tries, I went out on a limp and checked the folder option "show all files"

BAM, in they went just as pretty as you please..

Is this an oddity, or what?

Normally,, I check that option as "default" even though all machines come with it NOT checked..

any ideas ,,

I suspect that they were going in that folder the whole time....and were just overwriting themselves with each attempt. It wasn't until you chose the "show all files" option that they displayed.

Had you chosen "show all files" and then did a refresh of explorer (F5), they probably would have shown up then too..... but because you enabled "show all files", and then extracted the drivers into the folder, it forced a refresh of explorer since the folder contents had changed, and they displayed properly for you.

Then again Doc, I may have totally missed what you were trying to ask/communicate <lol>.
