I have a MSI Ti4200 128mb. I just benchmarked it for the first time and got 6924 3d marks. I'm guessing this is not good. Here is my system.

MSI Ti 4200 128mb (29.42)
T-bird 1gig....... I have a 1.4 on the way
40gig WD 7200rpm
512 sdram
SB Live 5.1
Acer 78c
Abit KT7A-RAID
Win 2k 1024x768 32bit 85hz

Something must be slowing it down. I never installed the MSI software that came with it. I just installed the latest drivers. Does that matter at all? Thanks in advance.

If you are using the default settings from 3DMark2001 (SE) then your score looks okay. These are very fast graphics cards, so they will scale with the faster processor you are thinking about.

I scored about 1500 with all the good eye candy turned on and with the highest resolution my monitor would handle. It performed superbly.

Here is a section from www.tomshardware.com

AMD AthlonXP 2000+
ASUS A7V266-E
VIA KT266A
133 MHz FSB
256MB PC-266 MHz RAM CL2 (2x128MB)

Running a Geforce 4 Ti4200 128 Mb DDR-RAM, This computer got a score of 8882 in 3D Mark 2001.

I guess it could be your CPU that is slowing the computer down a little bit. Also could be the ram if it is not DDR-RAM on the computer.

7000 is good for your setup. If you want more, then buy a better CPU, or OC this one: your CPU doesn't have enough power to fully load your GeForce4. That means that your CPU if fully loaded, and a GPU - not. After speeding up the CPU your GeForce4 will fork at better efficiency utilizing all its resources.

With better cpu/ram you will get better score.

Your 3D Mark score isn't out of range. I have a GeF4 Ti 4200 with an Athlon T'bird 1200 (OC to 1396 MHz) and 256 mb SDRAM. My 3D Mark is 8370. I'm sure I could pick up 1000+ Marks with an XP/MP on a DDR platform, but I'm happy. The Ti 4200 is a noticable upgrade from the GeF2 Pure.
