I have a 40x cdrom and a burner that does 32x read. New system is gonna have the said burner and a 16x DVD rom. Which of the 3 is gonna get me the fastest read speed? IE...how fast does 16x compare when it's reading a cdrom? I don't want to use the 40x cdrom if i dont have to (no raid controller on mobo)

Your 16x dvd should be able to read cds at 40-48x. I would just ditch the cdrom drive.:D
