Hi, I've just got myself a new DVD player and whilst playing a movie I noticed that every so often there is a slight pause in between movements. This is in Win 98, XP Pro works without any problems.

I also noticed that my hard disk was being accessed all the time whilst playing the DVD, in both OSs. Is this normal?

Constant HD activity during DVD playback in not very normal. It's possible that during the playback the need for memory (and swap file) is bigger, and since WinXP manages memory much better then Win98 (another proof) - HD defrag might be useful.
