should you re-install on OS like win9X/win2k/xp IF you're replacing a MB but they are same model??

if so why ??

if it is the same motherboard than no, if it is different in anyway it will depend on your OS. In win 9x you can usually install the correct drivers and have no problems. Windows NT/2000 is a different story. These two platforms need to detect the same hardware everytime they boot up or you will have trouble. There is away around this but it is not that easy. So anways, same motherboard no problems. Different motherboard less 98 problems, more NT/2000 problems.

if you switch out different models of motherboards in NT, the HAL might be different. This might mess up your bootup and you'll get an inaccessible boot drive error. This is because you would have a different IDE controller. If the boards are really similar, then you might get away with it, but the HAL can cause potential problems. You can try to do a install/repair, but sometimes it's just easier to reinstall from scratch. :D
