I have a 4 gig hdd, but I have also upgaded my machine for the last 5 years.
Is there anyway I can save all on C drive and resave it on my new bigger C drive?
The reason I ask this is because 5 years of stuff will no doubt be lost in indirect links ETC
Hope to hear from u anon

When you buy a new drive, it usually comes with drive copy software. Maxtor has maxblast, Seagate has Disk Wizard, etc.
If you don't want to use those or you buy a drive OEM, then you can use Drive Image or Ghost.

you have to buy them.
What are you actually wanting to do, copy all your word documents (for instance) across from one drive to the other or copy windows and all across?
Be careful with the bigger drives. If your system is 5years old, it is likely that your BIOS will not support drives over 8Gig, and even then you are pushing it....

for the maxblast, you can just go to maxtor's website and download it. same for seagate or western digital. that should be enough. You should stick with the brand of drive you have, but maxblast seems to work on just about any drive.
You gotta pay for drive image or ghost, so I would give the free utilities a chance first. :)

Cheers for the info on the free downloads and in reply to the question about what I want to do.
My kit is not all 5 years old, I did say I have upgraded it, just that I put a new slave drive in and put all my new games/files etc on it.
Have experienced in the past new drives not recognising old links ie I have reinstalled windows and it doesnt recognise my games/files etc.
What I wanted to do was put windows operating system on a new bigger drive but somehow save/keep the old trees to the directory of a certain game etc on D drive.
So I didnt loose all that stuff and have to start all over.
Many thanks in advance
John

Get a copy of Drive Image 5. You can do a lot of stuff with it.
