When I upgraded to W2K my Antec PCMCIA reader (connected to ISA slot) no longer works correctly. The device manager shows the reader operating properly but when I insert a card (modem, network card, flash)it always says PCMCIA UNKNOWN_MANUFACTURER and starts driver wizard. It never finds a driver. The cards are recognized correctly on the same machine running Windows ME. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Since this is hardware, and drivers are an issue: Did you check on Microsoft's site to make sure the card is 100% Windows 2000 compatible?? That could be the problem. Here's the site: http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/upgrade/compat/default.asp
Also, did you check with Antec for updated drivers?

Thanks Jim. Yes, I checked the Antec website and spoke with a couple of techs. One of them put the device on his W2K and it worked. I had checked the supported hardware but didn't find the datachute. I did find a some what cryptic item on the microsoft website http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q281/5/05.ASP?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0&qry=pcmcia&rnk=17&src=DHCS_MSPSS_gn_SRCH&SPR=WIN2000. It's unclear how you get the patch unless you want to pay for it. I suppose I'll just wait for SP2.
Thanks for your help!
Amazing how they make you pay for support while the problem is in their OS.
I agree, just wait until SP2 comes out;
hopefully that will fix your problem.
