Any help would be appreciated! Roy 07-21-1999, 01:21 AM My CD-RW guru strongly recommends Yamaha. There is a new 6x4x16x that he is about to buy. That is what I would do except that I've decided to go for an 8x20x CD-R for the greater write speed in burning some music archive disks. I'll eat the price of another blank when I need to "re-write" something. Nutcase 07-21-1999, 01:38 AM First of all it depends on how much money you want to spend. I spent $170 on mine and I love the CDRW. Its a Mitsumi 4x2x8. I mean Mitsumi is a good brand name in my eyes, so I decided to buy it I am thoroughly satisfied with it..... so it all depends on price. Ed_S 07-21-1999, 01:51 AM I've got Sony CDU 928, 2 years old & no problems. Highly recommend their products. Have seen lots of problems posted about HP drives, quality doesn't seem to be what was expected... NuovoTech 07-21-1999, 03:28 AM If you can afford one, get a Plextor SCSI CD-RW. Shop around...you can find them for under $300. Glytzhkof 07-21-1999, 05:41 AM I second "Nutcase". I've got the Mitsumi CDRW 8x4x2 and it is great value for money. It is cheap, reliable and comes with a good softare package for CD burning. My use is mainly backup and thus I need the RW option. As "Roy" says: if you intend to burn large amounts of music CD's go for higher speed drives without rewrite possibilities (If you treat your CD's nicely you can fill up a CD which is not rewritable in several sessions => Incremental Packet Writing). welk 07-21-1999, 09:19 AM I purchased an HP CD Writer Plus 7500 internal drive and have not been able to copy a cd yet. I get a buffer underrun error everytime. I am currently working with HP support. Has anyone had any experience with buffer underrun errors? rybinn 07-22-1999, 04:17 AM Thanks for all the advice ----I too have had excellent results with Mitsumi drives----Looks like it's a winner---back-up is a main reason for purchasibg so I will go CD-RW. Thanks again infromsea 07-22-1999, 02:36 PM welk, a buffer underun is a tricky thing, first off try and burn a cd while you do nothing else, make sure you don't have the hard drive turning off on the power saver option, i don't recomend useing the monitor power off either. if you have yet to make a good cd then i would return it. if you get another one and have the same prob them you have a system problem, good luck. Sexcow 07-22-1999, 03:23 PM Thanks for the help. I think I am going to pick up a Mitsumi drive very soon. If the HP drives are anything like what I've heard, or their PCs for that matter, they don't seem to be worth the effort no matter how good the deal. Sex-cow SysOpt.com
