I have an SGI M29A motherboard that uses a power supply with a power connector that has 4 pins extra than ordinary ATX. It also uses an AUX power connector. I would like to know where I can get a replacement 24 pin power supply. I would prefer Enermax, but I don't think they make them. And what is AUX power for?
Thank you!!

What type of cpu does that board take? A lot of P4 motherboards had an additional 4-pin plug, but it was separate from the main "block". Is it all 1 piece or are there 2 separate plugs?

The 24 pins are all part on one block, but the aux is seperate. This motherboard is for dual p3 xeons.

Ah. Ok. Some server boards have 24 instead of 20 pin ATX connectors. You could get another power supply or you can just get an adapter. Some of those server power supplies can be pretty expensive, so you might want to look at getting an adapter. Here's a link:

You rock little devil! :) I don't think this would effect anything in my system either, would it?
Thanks again.

How big of a power supply would you recommend for all this:
Dual PIII Xeon's
16x CD-ROM Drive
40x CD/RW Drive
Dual 10k RPM SCSI Fujitsu HDD
Dual 7200 RPM Maxtor IDE HDD
Promise RAID card
nVidia Geforce 2 Pro 64mb
1GB 800MHz RDRAM
Five 80mm fans

At least 400W or better. Get the biggest one you can afford because you have a lot of drives in there. If you're not sure about the adapter, you can always go with a server power supply. I think it will be just fine with the adapter, but it's your call. I was just giving you an option rather than buying a $100+ power supply. :)

I already bought the adapter. :D I think I'm just going to go with 431w PSU from Enermax. I don't think the adapter would cause problems because the motherboard still thinks its getting power from all pins.

Thanks man. Yeah, It's my server. I find I like it more than my gaming PC.
