On my prev os I had a shortcut on the taskbar that I made. Can't remember what I typed in - something like rundll32.enduser or something. Can I do this in W2K and what do I type in the command? thankz in advance http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Nice timing Biff, I just read it in the current issue of PCWorld. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

rundll.exe user.exe,exitwindows - exit Windows
rundll.exe user.exe,exitwindowsexec - restarts Windows without rebooting.

BTW Start>Shut Down>Restart (while holding down <Shift> ) also restarts Windows without rebooting.

Or you can use a simple utility that will allow shutdowns with a single mouse click...

Active Shutdown V.1.0

Here's one that I use. It's called CloseAll (http://www.agora.stm.it/B.Kropp/freeware.html) . It doesn't say if it will work with W2k, but it's worth a try. It closes all open windows, prompting you when necessary.
