Just wonderin' if someone can help me out. I recently bought a year-old Iomega external/parallel Zip100 drive off a guy on Ebay that didn't have the original software that came with it. Well, I downloaded the correct drivers for it off the Iomega site and everything seems just fine. But it's terribly slow. Then I remembered that there was an application that used to come with parallel port Zip drives that optimizes the transfer speed. I checked on the Iomega site, and it isn't available for download. Does anyone know where I can get it? Thanks in advance!

Parallel Zip drives are just plain SLOW, but make sure you're using a bi-directional cable and that your parallel port is set to ECP or EPP in the BIOS.
The utility is called Parallel Port Accelerator, and all it does is make sure that the parallel port is using the fastest data transfer mode available. I believe it's part of IomegaWare (http://www.iomega.com/software) , even though their site states that IomegaWare doesn't offer support for Parallel drives. If IomegaWare didn't install it, then I have no idea how it got into my Iomega Program group in the Start Menu on my 11 month old computer with only an internal Zip100. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

Parallel Port Accelerator, yeah that was it. I had to install an older version of IomegaWare so I could run the program (with shortcuts in my start menu and all) http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif Thanks for the info.
