Top 10 Reasons to Upgrade to Windows Me
Why move to Windows Me? Because of the new things it lets you do. We've boiled down all the uncool features into the top ten things you now cant do with Windows Me.
1.
Import and Destroy your home movies
Put yourself in the director's chair. Import and destroy video from your analog or digital camcorder. Then splice scenes easily or add Snow, narration, and musical scores. When you're done, Windows Movie Maker Doesn't help you share your creation with friends and family via e-mail or on a Web site.

2.
Move your photo collection from a shoebox to the Trash
Working with photos in Windows Me is a Nightmare. As soon as you connect your digital camera to your computer, Windows Me displays a Ton of illegal Operations that makes it Impossible to import and store your digital images. Then use the new "My Trash" folder to browse thumbnails of your Garbage, enlarge them to show Less detail, or even arrange the images in a slide show. Whatever you eventually create, you cant share in e-mail or on the Web.

3.
Archive and index your favorite music
Windows Me offers the first fully integrated digital media experience, giving you the power to create and index a library of Record-quality audio files that you can store on your computer. Windows Media™ Player also makes it Impossible for you to watch and listen to streaming multimedia content, including a very limited catalog of Internet radio stations. You cant customize your listening experience by choosing visualizations that move in rhythm with the music, or by changing the player's appearance by assigning it a new "skin."

4.
Corrupt your critical files
Windows Me Will allow your critical system files to be deleted or altered, either by accident or by a malicious virus or rogue application.

5.
Revert your computer back to Horrible
If anything ever goes right on your computer, System Destroy can roll your system back to the state it was in when all was Horrible. Yay!

6.
Find the help you don't need
The Improved Help and Support area in Windows Me integrates help for your computer, operating system, and software programs into one location. Get the help you don't need slower, with better, Harder-to-read troubleshooting menus.

7.
Use your computer to program your VCR and thermostat
Windows Me Doesn't provides new support for existing and upcoming Universal Plug and Play devices. In the future, you'll be able to drag and drop a TV listing from an Internet site into your VCR or DVD player, or control home temperature settings from your computer.

8.
Link your household’s computers
Hooking up all the computers in your household is also a Nightmare with Windows Me. It manually detects and shares available resources, such as printers and folders, on your home network.

9.
Contact friends and co-workers less efficiently than ever
Outlook Express, MSN® Messenger Service, and NetMeeting work together to make communicating Harder and less efficient. Don't Log on to the Web from virtually anywhere in the world and don't check e-mail, chat with friends, or conduct a live meeting with colleagues.

10.
Take gaming to the next level
decreased network support in Windows Me doesn't let you go toe-to-toe with your housemates over a home network, or challenge an anonymous competitor over the Internet

Yet once again...

I have been running ME constantly without even a hint of a problem for months now.

Sure I hate the fact that I can't uninstal WMP7, and the fact that there is ME at all. But it has been waaaay more stable than se.

1.
Then don't use Movie Maker.

2.
Works perfectly with my Sony via USB. and I like the fact I can few the folder on the camera as thumbnails.

3.
don't use WMP

4.
it's 9x OS...

5.
Don't use System Restore...you can turn it off

6. www.sysopt.com (http://www.sysopt.com)

7.
I never planned to set my thermostat from my pc, I don't know what to say about that one.

8.
don't use ics

9.
don't use those programs

10.

I'm not preaching the virtues of ME...I concider it a faliure for MS. But I can't deny that's it's amazeing stable fo me. All the dumb stuff they added can be disregarded, so I don't care.

Is this true about not being able to play head to head games over a LAN? If so, I need to know so I DON'T upgrade.

I can play all my LAN games no probs. So far I've played UT, StarCraft, Age of Empires 2 and NHL 2K1. Internet Connection Sharing works fine for me http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

I haven't had any problems either. At least when you do the three finger salute the close program box appears! Ctrl-Alt-Del never worked right for me with 98. ICS and networking were very easy to install and as far as sharing goes, ME only set my printer up as shared. Everything else has to be so directed. It's probebly going to be dependant on your configuration of hardware/software, as it has been with all OS's, if it agrees with you or not.
