The machine I'm on right now has 1262 objects in that folder. I'm sure one or two won't be missed. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif It helps to know what they are, and what you're doing! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

You may have just a few or possibly hundreds of unused or unneeded files, especially if you've uninstalled alot of programs, but don't delete anything unless you know exactly what the files in question do. Any text files (.txt) could probably be deleted or moved. There's a prog, Clnsys.exe, but the link I have no longer works.

I ask this because, there is item on my system tray that I dont need or want, but when I goto start->run->msconfig, it doesnt show that file. I looked it on the find files or folders option on my start menu. I found it in the system folder, but when I try to delete it, I get that IE error, when there is an error or bug and it asks if you want to still run the page or not. I clicked on yes and tried to delete it again, but the same error came up.

I was wondering if you could delete anything in the C:\Windows\System folder?
