I've been searching the net with no success. Does anyone know of a program that will convert my mpeg-2 files into divx files?

I am trying to encode some video using my vcr and nvidia card. The supplied software works well and records video and audio to mpeg-2 files. These files are still a bit big for my taste and i would like to encode them into divx to save space. Can anyone help?

Try vidomi, its great! A coder and a player in one and it even does the odd .mp2's that wont register on some prog.s (the file size limitation has been fixed on this one). You need the divx codec though aswell for any encoder/decoder. I use divx 5.02 and its good.;)

I wish the Divx codec would provide a simple tool to use for converting...

anyway, I don't think you need to install different versions of the codec because Divx 5 can Play everything older, and it can also encode a few different versions to ensure compatability...
