Is there any other way to overclock a CPU if the board/bios will not allow any fsb/multiplier/voltage change and none of the cool software utils supports changing the FSB.
It is an Intel D845HV board and I would rather blow the cash on a GeForce4 Ti4600 before an new board and memory just so i can overclock the CPU. Is there anyone who knows a way to overclock the chip on this board?
I have a similar problem with an old PIII 700 on a ***** board as well.

Nope. Unless they haven't thought of any other way

Oh well . . .I didnt buy the board by choice, it was in an amazing deal of a PC which had been handled, lets say a bit rough, in delivery to someone else and was sold off cheap because nobody wanted it.
All the case was scratched pretty bad (but still intact).
I managed to salvage the board with a P4 2Ghz chip on and some other bits for about £150 and that was way back at the beginning of the year when these chips alone went for about £400.
It was a v.large PC store and I think they just write the value off anyway so they werent bothered and i got myself a very sweet deal !!
Who's board would you go for Epox/Abit/Asus for overclocking this chip?
I would like a DDR RAM board that I can overclock next.

I would go for an Abit board, just because they are one of the best overclocker's boards around (i don't know about the P4 ones, but the athlon ones are!)

Epox and Abit have a great feature that other mfg's don't: an adjustable divider in the BIOS so you can set fsb to very high values and still keep the AGP/PCI bus in spec.

I have my default ratio set to 133:100:33..my o/clock settings are 177:133:44..so my RAM is at normal clock speed, FSB is o/clocked & PCI BUS is o/clocked which obviously makes it faster..& its as stable as.
Love my ASUS..
