This is just an info question, with a win98 pc and in a ms-dos session, you get memory info here is what is reported:
Total Used Free
Conventional 655360 33120 622240
Upper 0 0 0
Reserved 0 0 0
Extended (XMS)67107840 ? 132993024
Total Memory 67763200 ? 133615264

Total Expanded (EMS) 67108864 (64M)
Free Expanded (EMS) 16777216 (16M)
Largest executable program size 622224 (608K)

What do the ? marks mean? The PC had about 80MB now it has 128MB, the only difference shown was Extended EMS was 82661376 and total free was 83283616, all the other numbers did not change at all. Thanks for you help!

The ? means that windows is Unable to determine the size.

Don't worry about the ? -- that's a DOS command & simply means DOS can't determine it. W9X's mem command will always show the question mark for that. Try:
mem /f
mem /d/p
for some different info.
