Much thanks to Graham and Tonym for their help with an ongoing project that I've been working on.

Anyway, now I'm working on the computer's display. I doubt there's enough juice to power a monitor, and even if there was, I don't want that bulky thing in my car. I see LCDs and laptop monitors on eBay going for $20, and I would like to hook one of those up as the monitor. Can anyone provide any information on what I need to do this?

I'd like to hook up something like these as the monitor: http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1208027054

Szech,
Getting more complicated, the first link is just an LCD display, as an analogy, like just the tube from a monitor. The second link leads to a better solution, if the screen is large enough for you, it is a complete monitor.
You will need to get a 'composite video' output from your pc to drive it, most pc's dont have one, I am no expert on videocards, but there must be some that have this o/p.
Thats all you need apart from 12V.

G

you gotta post some pics.

Szech,

You might be able to get a card with T.V. out, and then get a Rf tuner from an old telly and mod it for your project?

Sorry, just reread the spec's, it say's the unit is compatible with T.V. out, so a video card with T.V. out should work.

All the best, Justy.

Hmmm... guess there is no cheap route...

I actually decided against using the video LCD for a monitor. I can't justify spending that much for such a tiny display (4"?!?). I will instead use an old 13" TV (no $$$, and 13 > 4 ). However, the video display is down the road a bit. In the meanwhile, I plan on using a character LCD to display the MP3 info.

It's going to be a while before I finish this project, but pics will be posted http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif.
