My system is a gigabyte GA-5AA motherboard, AMD k6/2 550, 128mb ram. When the puter boots, it reports the processor running at 550mhz. But once it boots to windows 2000, and I run SANDRA, it reports the proccessor as running at half that 275mhz. It also reports the bus at 50mhz, 1/2 of what its actually set at. I'm using 5.5x100, 2.3v.

Any idea why its reporting the amd chip as half of what its set for on the board?

IS just Sandra telling you this or is windows also telling you this. Sandra has been known to lie.

download this to see what your cpu is really running at. WcpuID

from here

According to this (http://www.sisoftware.demon.co.uk/sandra/index.htm) page, Sandra has problems working correctly with ALi Chipsets and SouthBridges. Might be your case.

Forgot to mention, Geforce 4 mx 440 64ddr, I dont know if this is excellent but, does the job for high performance games, and is quite good price £90 about $170 in american money .....i think. Does this mean I have a good machine???

Geforce 4 mx 440 64ddr- is a very poor card.

It is really just a souped up version the Geforce 2 mx series. Evenb the Geforce 3 ti 200 performes better than it in almost all games.

Heres a link comparing cards.

I wasnt really mad, As if you knew me a little more you would see I rarly ever get mad about matters here. However on a forum a common use is if you have a somthing to ask/say you dont just **** into someone elses thread and ask, starting a new thread helps very much.

thanks, :)

moaning about a stupid "thread"
It's not about "stupid thread", it's about rules (http://www.sysopt.com/forum/faq/index.html). Rules must be followed in order to maintain ORDER .
