Infared reciever for computer...

I use winamp and watch DVD's alot on my computer. I want to know what others think/know of Infared interfaces for the computer. I'd like to be able to use a regular remote with one to control winamp and such....

I've got an infrared remote with my WinTV tuner card. Hmmmmmmmm. Maybe I'll have to see if it works with WinAmp....

A lot of motherboards have the headers already on the board for IR. I've got a bunch of IR sensors pulled from some NEC computers at work, but I've never tried to hook one up to another board. I gave one to Mntsnow several months ago - maybe he tried it?

I have a palm pilot IIIxe, which uses IR to transmit data, whether between palms or another computer. I was wondering where's a good place to get an IR port (online/offline)so that I could transmit data between a PC and My palm???!!??
I'm sure there are a few programs for the palm that would allow it to act as a "remote" for other appliances.
