netmeeting troubleshooting

Hi:when I use microsoft netmeeting in my win 98 ,I can talk true my microphone with another peoples ,but they report they cannot Hear my voice..
is there any problems with my micro ,or the problems with the microsft netmeeting itself.
BTW:does anyone Know any alternative program to microsoft netmeeting that I can use.thanks in advance.

When you talk through the microphone, can you hear yourself through your speakers ?.

Maybe you have your microphone settings on 'Mute' ?.

In the bottom right hand corner (in the task bar)there should be a little picture of a loudspeaker, if you double click on that, have a look at the window that shows up...in the microphone section make sure that the little box in the bottom is NOT checked.
