Sounds good to me.:D The best cpu maker and best graphics card maker going together for one hell of a gaming setup. I can only imagine.

Note looks like the hammer got a new name Opteron

I think the name Opteron was officially established for a while now.... since CeBIT?

Do you think that this new combination will bring out the expected performance from the DUAL BANK ARCHITECTURE that the ORIGINAL Athlons couldn't take benefit of? It is a 64-bit processor, it should be able to handle both memory banks at same time, right (or did I forget and screwed up the whole DUAL MEM BANK thing again?)

Second time is a charm I guess. Seeing how they screwed it up last try-BIG TIME! THe Nforce was useless, offered notheing over the other chipsets that could be seen in real world perf. I hope it works this time then they will go to dual ddr mem sooner on the P4 to compete. Or should I say the P5 as I hear there are already plans of useing Daul DDR on that one i.e. Prescott in 2003. Thats Intels answer to the Hammer if some didnt know. I liked the name Hammer better "Opteron" sounds so cheesy for a cpu name. Atleast Hammer made it sound mean, opteron sounds like a wimpy name. There still no specs as to expected clock speeds of this? I hope it takes off, there is some really good tech in it. But one has to wonder if any flaws will raise there ugly head in this new cpu. New architecture = new unforseen problems. The P4 is proof of that. Keeping fingers crossed for the new AMD, and the new P5!;)

The 64bit has notheing to do with it. I know, you are thinking two channels of 32bit = 64bit. But then how come the P4 64bit internal 32bit external can take advantage of such high mem bandwidth. More to it. Besides the hammer isnt running 64bit all the time, just when supported. So when in 32bit (most of the time) like when gameing that theory wouldnt work! The Prescott does the same thing- dual mode that is.

"Opteron" Does it transform from a CPU to a robot? Sounds like a transformer name to me.:D
