my cousin says that her dvd drive is giving her problems. when she inserts a cd.. sometimes it does not run the cd or it spits the cd out if you dont head to my computer and click it

i checked the drive and it is set to auto play

sometimes if a cd is in the drive, it will automatically spit the cd out..

any ideas on what this might be?

If it's a combo DVD/CDR, it may be reading the disk as a bad recording. I can't think of anything else. As far as I know, only CDRs and CDR software can eject a disk without a command.

But what about the keyboards like mine that have a eject button. Maybe she does and it is the prob? or the keyboard software? Or something along those lines? And wouldnt that mean there is a software way to eject a cd? Just trying to help out with some relivent questions.:)

Oops! My bad I see you said "without a command" I guess a key pressed on a keyboard would quallify as that. DUH! Could this still be a possability though. Does she have a keyboard with the eject feature on it?:)

I'm just guessing, Gamer. I'm no PC prophet here. I do know that I was put off the first time my CDR software ejected a disk. I'm a big control freak!

"HEY! I didn't tell you to do that, did I? You put that CD right back in there!"

Back to the subject. My buddy just lastnight (took a while LOL)
called me up in a panic. My cdroms opening on its own. Not just once but constantly! WoW I go thats errie we were just talking about something similar. Well I do some digging and checking into it. Here he had a trojan and as we all know the are hackers buddys. It left the hacker know when he was online so they could attack him. Funney just this week someone stole his dial up account and he was denied access because someone was already logged on. Too boot one of his chat buddies was bragging about how he could turn things on and off from where he was sitting. Point is I figured him out real quick the SLIME Ball. I'm fixing him dont you worry (or should I say I already did) dang lamo script kiddies anyhow. I even found the prog. he used it was sub 7. ITs a trojan tool so you can see what they are doing on the victems pc, steal passwords and cause amuck along with deleteing his important files. So I reversed it in a way. Hehe he's not on the net right now! Anyhow check into trojans and see what they do. He had backdoor.net devil and it was a nastey varient of it at that. If it only happens when your online you just got your answer. Peace!

Oh and just to clear I didnt hack him nor would I know how or want to. All I did was set him up. I downloaded a trojan scanner for my buddy. Got him back online. Joined his conversation. Dude targeted him again and bang. This tool left you send message to attacker. So I just sent him back his own trojan he was trying to send to my buddy AND get this. It worked cause he got offline alittle later and not back. The dummy didnt even have trojan scanner on his own pc. I'm thinking its a kid and dad will be displeased that his pc aint working and has a virus. OHHHHHH MYYYYYY. :t

Reminds me of an old saying:

I think its funny you refer to the attacker as a "script kiddie" yet use a downloaded app to counter attack him. Wouldn't that make you a script kiddie, too?

Not at all. A script kiddie is a person who is a lamo hacker. A nobody with out any real codeing or programeing skills! They primarily are just doing it to reak havoc and not do anything usefull with what little they do know. I didnt write any script prog. or anything else. I didnt rewrite a virus either. He altered this virus to do what it did hence he is a script kiddie. ALL I DID, is download a Trojan scanner that scans all ports. He got in and this lets you send a message to the attacker. This isnt a hacking tool its a tool to protect you. Instead of a message I gave him his own trojan virus. I didnt rewrite or recompile anything. Bounceing it back to him is all I did, hes the one that sent it. I just set him up, when he attacked the pc again I used this prog. to reverse it, and send back. I didnt upload anything to him. Understand????:)
