I am trying to record LP's to my hard drive using Easy CD 5 plat, but it keeps telling me that the sound card is being used buy another program. How can I find out which program this is and stop it doing this? Or how can I give Easy CD priority? cheers

Is there a microphone plugged in? Remove it. Check Multimedia Propertie to see what Preferred audio devices you have.

Hi Bipolarbill, how do I check multimedia props? I don't have a mic.

Depends on the Windows version (hint-hint). In XP, it's Control Panel > Sounds and Audio > Audio.

It's in Control Panel > Multimedia in Win98.

Hi again. My sound card is as follows: c-media audio record c 400 made by m.s. sampling bits 16 bit. sample rate 44.1khz. Is this a **** sound card? Would it give low quality recordings from an external sound source? I still can't get it to record with easy cd 5.The sound comes out of the speakers ok though. thanks

Yah...16-bit sound cards are behind the times. You can pick up a Sound Blaster Live! value for about $30US. It's silly to keep that thing.

Thanks for your advice Bip, I will get a new one , but I still don't know how to get the card to work in Easy CD Spin Doctor mode. The sound comes out of the speakers, but it won't record. Thanks again mate......

I assume that you are using Win98/ME - 16-bit cards are "personna non grata" in NT/2K/XP. Have you tried using a microphone and Windows Sound Recorder to test the input? If that works, Easy CD should. Check in Control Panel > Multimedia to see if the recording source is correct.

What benifits would I get from a new sound card?
