Really what are the differences between the 64mg and 128mg versions of the card? I ponied up to the 128mg version, but i hear that the memory is clocked faster on the 64mg version. So what is the deal?

Second-guessing yourself is a frustrating habit. Stick to your guns. DocEvi1 06-04-2002, 11:59 AM I heard the same on these very forums, but as BiploarBill says more is always better. The extra RAM should allow you run higher res easier and wot-not. Stefan grimfandango 06-04-2002, 12:10 PM The 64mb 250 core / 500 memory. (most cards) 128mb 250 core / 444 memory. the Extra 64MB will do nothing unless playing at 1280x1024x32bit with 4x FSAA. Even then you cant notice the difference. Go for the 64mb version. Its faster Memory will make a noticeable difference. :) BipolarBill 06-04-2002, 12:19 PM I'm pretty frugal by nature and would probably ordered the 64MB because frugal = cheap. If I had that extra 40-50 bux, I would have gotten the Ti4400. Anyway, it's a toss-up. If you could use that difference back, refuse delivery and order the 64MB. grimfandango 06-04-2002, 12:23 PM Good point 40-50$ more you can get a GF4 Ti 4400.. DocEvi1 06-04-2002, 03:19 PM Like me, or him :D Thats make sense to some, and not at all to others :D Stefan Jimstep 06-05-2002, 06:55 PM Tests have shown that the higher resolutions will be able to almost double the FPS in games with the 128Mb of memory. If higher resolutions is not important to you, then the extra 64Mb will not do much good. On the other hand, you could be positioned for future games taking advantage of the extra memory. Anticipation is a wonderful marketing strategy. BipolarBill 06-05-2002, 08:14 PM I can't read the chat text at anything over 1K resolution. I want to know who's flaming me! :p Jimstep 06-06-2002, 10:17 PM UT will allow you to double the text size so that it is easier to read at the higher resolutions. BipolarBill 06-06-2002, 10:32 PM Kewl! :) Guess I gotta get that Ti4400 now, eh Jim? XtremeG 06-10-2002, 04:49 PM I think 64mb is a very good buy if you $$$ tight.......if not I'd rather get the Ti4400. MoxManiac 06-11-2002, 06:50 PM The 128 version would definitely be more "future proof" XtremeG 06-12-2002, 08:24 AM Originally posted by MoxManiac The 128 version would definitely be more "future proof" "future proof"=Ti4400 as you can get the mem up 650+ and they are just slightly more expensive than the 128 Ti4200. KTS 06-12-2002, 08:47 AM what do you consider slightly more expensive.... comparing the ti4400 to the ti4200.... is see a price difference of around $50... $1500-P4 gamer 06-13-2002, 06:18 PM The reviews I saw said A) 128mb is slower in the end due to mem speed and B) no game as of now takes any speeed increase from the additional 64mb as it only helps in res. high than 1280x1024 32bit. Who cares about gameing that high. I would like to see the sys that plays GIANTS at that 60+ fps and that res. color depth. 128mb sure aint gonna help when the rest of sys is the bottlekneck. Most tech sites say that the move to 128 is just to increase the cost of the vid card and try to justify it to the consumer with outlandish performance claims that are non existant.:( SysOpt.com
