If you have the DivX codec and an MP3 codec installed, you can use FlasKMPEG, which will compress them from VOB directly to AVI with none of that merging hassle.

Thanks for the reply, but Flask tends to produce larger file sizes, normally over 1 gig and I am trying to write it onto one cd.

I am trying to make bac up copies of my dvd`s, so I dont ruin the originals. Iextracted the .vob files and I then used DVD2Avi to compress the video file and create the audio file (as this seems to produce a smaller file than flask). I read a guide that then said you can use VirtualDub to bring the two files together.

So I followed it exactly and when you save the avi the process indicator comes up but nothing happens. I thought that maybe it would take a while so I left it for four hours and still nothing, the program hadnt crashed it just wouldnt do anything. The settings I was using are

open video file, set to direct stream copy.
open wav audio, set to full processing mode, then set compression to mpeg layer III at same bitrate.
then save avi and it starts.

Can somebody tell me why it is not working or if there is another program out there for linking the video and the audio files together.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks :-)

If you use Flask correctly you will get files that will fit on a CD. For good instructions and downloads go to:

Hope this helps
