My mother has just recently purchased a new computer and given me her old one. Problem is she gave me just a bare board with 32mb ram and a 56k modem. I have a system of my own that is slower than hers and I am looking to transfer all my hardware onto her faster motherboard. The only problem is that she has only two memory slots which are larger than the memory I have. How do I tell what type of Memory her board uses so that I can purchse extra ram? I have tried to identify the motherboard so that I could look up its specs but I have been unable to do anything as I can't boot it without taking hard drives and video cards out of my system and I would like to avoid as much swapping as possible.

more info is necessary to tell exact specs on ram.but motherboard socket type might be a giveaway to some here.in the meantime look at this link, there are pictures of different types of ram and descriptions.

Every electrical component should have an FCC ID# on it. Find this number on the modem and go to an FCC ID site such as the following:
