Colleagues:

I had to remove mobo, replace cpu fan, reinstall everything, reconnect all cables (ribbon & LED, etc.). I booted and received above error. I experienced the check sum error before but forgot how I fixed it... Anyone remember this oldie but goldie?

just inter the bios then save and exit and it should update and no more check sun error http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

If that doesn't work, try replacing the BIOS battery. Usually when I have seen that on my boards it either means that the BIOS battery is dead or the BIOS chip itself has died (I had that happen).

I thought it might be the battery as well, as my memory of that problem gradually surfaced. Then I entered CMOS per Scotter's suggestion, reset dates (which had reverted to 1980 something), saved, booted normally. Thx to you both.
