In tweakui theres an option to rebuild or repair icons try that first then see if it works if not then go into the windows folder and look for "shelliconcache" file, might have to rite clik/properties and uncheck hidden and or read-only box then delete it restart and see if you can remove the shortcut arrows.

It's because of a recent Windows update, you can rid yourself of the arrows in the registry.
1. Open Regedit
2. Open the Key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
3. Open the Key LNKFILE
4. Delete the string value IsShortcut
5. Open the next Key PIFFILE
6. Delete the string value IsShortcut
7. Close REGEDIT
8. Restart

There is one side effect to the "IsShortcut'" deletion. Nothing bad, it is that if you have any hot keys associated with a desktop shortcut, they will no longer function. No big deal.
By the way, the arrows reappearance was caused by an update on Windowsupdate (I don't remember which one). I read it somewhere.

Thanks for the responses.
I do regular updates as well so I'm not sure either. The very last update was the J_D_B_G_M_G_R file restore. But I think the problem was there already.
Thanks again! :D
