Well I just downloaded a cool shareware game that is very old! Well it being very old it gives me "Runtime error 200 at 0E3C:0091". I have heard that some older games can't run on new processors? If this is true, is there a way to get it to run?

Do a search for a prgram called "moslo" it may help.

If this is a PC game, there's no reason it won't run, though we may have to do some tricky work to get your machine into the right DOS compatibility mode.

Unlike the Mac chips, which are non-compatible with their legacy software, the x86 design has not fundamentally changed in twenty years. The chip itself can run any DOS program ever written.

It's true, some older games don't run on new cpu's. I can't give a technical explanation why...but I belive it's just a timing issue, and the speed and power of modern cpu's introduces some glitches( includeing runtime errors) in older games.

I had the same problem with space quest 6. I used a program called CPUkiller (http://web.tiscalinet.it/robyrobo/) to slow my system down. I was then able to get past the glitch, and then play the rest of the game without the program.

Good luck!

hehe that's kinda funny...you had to slow your system down http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif. Usually you don't hear that too much.
