My CD Burner... I believe its a Mitsumi CD-R, (but not RW) drive.. can't seem to burn on those 700MB 80 min. CDs. Why is this? And is there any way around it?
Thanks.

NDD 01-14-2001, 01:42 PM Additional info about CD-R spec and the program you're using to burd the discs will be highly appreciated http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif crazyray 01-14-2001, 01:43 PM Some older burners, such as the Mitsumi 2801TE, must have their firmware updated to support 80 min discs. Go to the manufacturers's website, find your CD-R model, and check for firmware updates. These can be downloaded; there should be instructions at the site regarding installation. GroundZero3 01-15-2001, 10:05 PM What speed you trying to burn at? Have you tried burning stuff on the slowest speed possible?? my 4x8x32x doesn't like to burn on those at fast speeds for some reason. and i used 80 min 12x imations cd's. yammahoppy 01-15-2001, 10:21 PM it was my understanding that the older burners couldnt physically get the writer close enough to the edge to take advantage of the extra space on the 80 minute disks. i could be wrong. but this is how they explained it on the screen savers on techtv. the yamminator crazyray 01-15-2001, 10:59 PM The reason for my previous comment: I inherited a Mitsumi 2801TE CD-R. It would not accept 80 minute blanks. I contacted Mitsumi via the link at their website www.mitsumi.com (http://www.mitsumi.com) They told me that a firmware update would solve the problem. The update could be downloaded from the site. Tech support walked me through the installation of the update on the phone! It works fine with the 80 minute blanks now... SysOpt.com
