After installing a new hdd I moved all my data to the new disk. When I open “my computer” it shows that there are number of directories (totalling some 1Gb of data) on the relevant partition. However clicking on the individual directories shows only a couple of files( less tham 1mb of data)

How do I get the data back?
Thanks
Chris

What operating system?
What method did you use to move the data?

Lemmy999, if your data was important contact www.ontrack.com before doing much more to the old HD, they might be able to help you although data recovery is expensive. Good Luck:eek:

The only other way i know of to recovery data from a formatted drive is to use lost&found. this program will pull the data onto another drive, but it should be ok. It takes a heck of a long time too, possibly overnight if you got a really big drive.

I'm not sure what you meant by "move data". did you do a drive image? if you just moved files, then it shouldn't have required a utility.

Before you format your old drive, you might want to check your destination drive first. :(
