I download a program that crashed my computer. I fixed the problem but I lost my audio. In the SYSTEM DEVICES the audio is under OTHER PCI
MULTIMEDIA AUDIO DEVICE. When I try to load the drivers for this device the computer said no driver found even though I have the correct drivers. I've even
when to the makers of the chip (599 lmr onboard audio) and got the right drivers. But the audio still doesn't work.
HOW do I get the audio to recognize the drivers. A friend says I might have to reformat the mother board. HELP.....

I have windows 98 se.

First you have to delete the reference to the audio card from Device manager . Reboot and when the autodetection of the card ask for the driver tell it where you have the driver.

nope nope nope..do not reformat the mobo

the drivers for sound are on the pc 100 system cd rom.

if u dont have the cd rom.....

create a new folder on the C: drive

rename this folder "sound"

download the drivers to this folder

unzip them if in zip format

in system devices double click other pci audio device

click update drivers

when prompted choose show me a list

point win98 to the sound folder by using the browse button

the path should be C:/sound/8738am/win95/98/drvs

I have the drivers on cd if u need them. its just over 2 megs

or I can burn the whole cd it has drivers for everything on the m599lmr mobo. shipping in the usa is about 5 bucks

unless it's changed you might have to go thru it about 4 times

1 - speakers 2 - old sound blaster compatiblility 3 - mic 4 - joystick

it's a pain but just keep rebooting and get the drivers off the cd each time it finds more of the audio parts

there might be a utility on the cd to make it easier
