Microsoft Word 2000 Pro

Whenever I try to open Microsoft Word it says "Winword.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows...An error log is being created." All the other programs for office run fine, except for Word. I have reinstalled numerous times and still the same problem, I have also downloaded and installed all of the Office updates. It seems to be kicking out when it gets to scanning for viruses. I am using Norton Antivirus 2002, I disabled the autoprotect and still get the same error.

Maybe you should try uninstalling it then reinstalling it, or download the service packs and see if that works.

I tried both of those approaches, uninstalling then re-installing, and dowloading the updates all over again, still the same problem

Sorry you said that before, I don't read well. Do you have all the Windows Updates to and what verison of Windows are you running?

if u think anti virus program is causing problem uninstall anti virus and try word.

Windows 2000 Proffessional is the OS I am running. I found something that told me to disable the Office plugin for Norton and that didnt fix it either, I have had these all installed before and it worked fine, it is just deciding to give me trouble now

For anyone who might want to know I finally found what was causing the problem, it would appear that Winfax Pro 10 puts a file in the Microsoft office startup folder to startup when Office starts an App. If you remove the file then it works fine. But thanx for the suggestions.
