I am looking into getting an 'Internet Eraser.' Something to delete cookies, clear cache and history, permenently.
Concerned boss may be monitoring my computer.
What do you suggest?????
Which is the best, and why?
Any one have or use on of these?
I have Norton, and how do they work with that?
Any information is greatly appreciated!!!!!!!!!!!

TUCOWS (http://www.tucows.com/system/systemmonitoring95.html) has some shareware that would block keylogging software. Don't know if it works.
If the company has installed software to monitor you'd probably need to know what type it is.
There's also a program called CyberScrub that is supposed to do all the things you mentioned but you have to pay.
Why not put your PC's idle time to good use by downloading the seti@home client HERE (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.html) and then joining the Sysopt.com Users 2002 Team HERE (http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/cgi-bin/cgi?cmd=team_lookup&name=Sysopt.com+Users+2002) :)

I use windows washer myself. It will remove all tempfiles,
cookies, temp internet files,MS office tracks,IE history bar. Plus a few other items.

This is not a free program. But it is one of the better programs I have found for this issue.
I use Norton 2002. It has no problems with window washer at all.

If the company is using a router, then nothing you do will stop the boss from reading the router traffic tables.
Is it worth losing your job just to surf the net?

We have a Box where I work that records ALL internet access from ALL machines. I dosen't mater what you are running on the local box at your desk. If you go to a site, it is logged at the gateway. My Router/firewall/e-mail box has a 30 gig HD that has the surfing habbits of 12 employees for the last 2 years. Muahahaha! And we still have lots of space for more. There is no way to get around this if you access the net over the LAN. The BOX sees and tells all. Even I, the Admin cannot go into the logs without a record of said access. This keeps us ALL honest.
Do NOT, I repeat Do NOT go anywhere on the net you would not like your boss to know about.
Surf At HOME!

It isn't worth it IMO.
If your boss has the expertise and money, you can't get around it permanently. You can only do things that make it more difficult to track, but it can still be tracked.
Sites that offer secure anonymous web browsing will stop your boss from monitoring where you go even while using the LAN for Internet access. But he also has the ability to prevent you from even going to the anonymous web browsing sites in the first place (or even after he discovers you use one he can block it).
It isn't worth it IMO.

We have an older system, and each computer connects individually.
Here is the next question:
Is there anyway to delete the index.dat files myself without extra software?
I am not doing anything 'strange' on my computer, just spend a lot of time on it.
I am a newbe to this type of thing, and appreciate all the advice you have!

Fred Langa batch files does (ie. cleanall.bat - wipetif.bat)
but it works with Win98, DOS mode... if you know batch file
programing then you'll be able to modify it as you want it.

In IE I think you can just delete cookies, history and files in Internet Options.
In Netscape you can do most of that in Preferences.
But, as others have mentioned, if the Boss is that interested in getting the goods, he can.
I'd say clean up as best you can and don't fool with it again. ;)
BTW, FYI, I see you posted elsewhere on the site. You'll get better help only posting once.
